Ford’s capable F-150 is one if not the best-selling nameplates in the full size segment and with earth-shaking Tremor it’s not hard to understand why.
As you know, the SVT Raptor version of the F-150 is a dedicated of Road brute but the Tremor what it something just a little bit different. This truck is bred for the street and it’s got style and stance in spades but it’s all backed up by genuine substance, also is limited production – it was a one year only deal.
Available in two or four-wheel-drive flavors, Tremor sports the FX Sport Package which means blacked out front grille, unique graphics on the hood, smoked out headlights and taillights, a unique 20in tram with 275/55-20 Pirelli Scorpion tires and unique graphics on the side of the truck. Tremor Plus Package adds remote start, navigation, bed extender, rear view camera, and other useful gadgets.
Unique exterior badges and graphics let other motorists know you’re driving something different and of course those 20-inch wheels at a sporty flair. This trucks regular cab body is refreshingly short and sweet, seating just two people.
Now on the off chance that you actually need to use the tremor for real work it is equipped to get stuff done. Power is provided by Ford’s popular EcoBoost V6 engine and with 3.5 liters of displacement when turbochargers direct fuel injection and variable camshaft timing it delivers 365 horsepower with 420 pound-feet of torque. 90 percent of that power is available between 1700 and 5,000 rpm and that means you got ample torque no matter where the tachometry needle point at.
The engine is matched to a responsive six-speed automatic transmission that works very well. This truck is actually equipped with a 4.10 axle ratio, something that ensures maximum acceleration and the rear differential can be electronically locked for improved traction.
Stepping up into the Tremor’s cab like trucker you got a nice panoramic view the a-pillars nice and slim, so they don’t cause any trouble looking forward, plus with that four-wheel-drive system you got a nice elevated ride heights you can actually look down and all the people driving a smaller cars around you. Cabin is pretty nice and it feels bigger than an open-pit strip mine wide long and deep. In fact, even though this is a regular cab body there is about a foot deep space behind the seats. There is a tons a room for tool, shopping bags and even firearms.
Inside everything is solid and well built with no squeaks or rattles, but a little disappointing by some materials. The dashboard top is a cheap shiny plastic. There’s been quite a bit “have” reverse engineering at the Ford engineers it had to do. This short bed regular cab was never designed to have bucket seats or a center console or the shifter in the console either. Additionally the myFord touch system has been modified a little bit to fit in the dashboard. At the end we can tell you there’s a lot of fun factor with this pickup truck.
