Can a Lamborghini Aventador Beat an F-16 Fighting Falcon?

- in Cars

Do you want to see if Lamborghini Aventador, that 700bhp weapon of noise and angles and fury, could take an F16 fighter plane?

The Lamborghini Aventador is one of the quickest and fastest supercars on the market today, but does it have what it takes to beat a fighter jet? And not just any jet, but an F-16 Fighting Falcon, perhaps the most iconic plane flown by the U.S. Air Force? To find out, the Danish magazine Bilmagasinet led this spirited bull to compete against the “old bird”.

The Lamborghini Aventador
This is a 7 speed all wheel drive luxury sports car with a top speed of 217mph (350 km/h).
The 6.5L V12 engine can produce a max power of 700 bhp at 8,250 RPM and 509 lb-ft (690Nm) of torque.
This car can do 0-60 in under 2.9 secs.

The F16 Fighting Falcon
This is one of the most popular US fighter jets of all time.
Developed by General Dynamics for the US Air Force and has been in service since 1978.
Each costs on average $15 million and so far over 4,500 had been built.
This jet has is powered by a F110-GE-100 afterburning turbofan with maximal power of 127kN (28 600 lb-ft) and can reach a max speed of over Mach 2 (twice the speed the sound – about1500 mph – or 2410 km/h).

The Lamborghini Aventador may include some jet fighter-inspired design clues, but its lack of wings and jet engine would lead us to believe that it doesn’t stand a chance racing the F-16. On the other hand, it’s far lighter weight and ground-based aerodynamics might allow the Aventador to compete if the track is short enough.
