In 1968 Dodge rolled out a new body style for the popular Dodge Charger muscle car, aggressive and with that classic coke bottle shape draw crowds where ever they go. They introduced what would eventually become one of the most iconic cars in American history.
Sporting curvier front fenders and rear quarter panels, the ’68 model was the first Charger to feature the famous “Coke bottle” styling and was widely praised by the automotive community for its eye-catching design. But this particular Charger takes it to the next level as a promotional car for Coca Cola. Basically what you have here is literally the 1969 Coke Bottle Charger, or for the lay, The Coke Car. –
The ’69 that you see here was updated with all new AMD Mopar sheetmetal before being converted into a rolling Coca Cola tribute, and then it’s incredible paint scheme was applied by Atlanta artist Steve Stanley. He created this amazing one-off 1969 Dodge Charger in an attempt to pay homage to what is considered, the one true American soft drink.
Not enough Coke, you say? Simply look to the custom 5-spoke wheels and notice that those really aren’t spokes at all, but instead are billet Coke bottles! The trunk features an icy cooler that can hold 300 bottles of Coke, the console can store another couple bottles, and bottles can be opened on the pop top gas cap! Steve redid all the labels to reflect a Coke theme. The interior was sprayed in Sikkens silver, to mimic the same sterile aluminum appearance as the inside of a vintage Vend-O machine.
This Charger is a fully restored and functioning car that can be taken out and driven. A Coke car isn’t a Coke car without a 6-pack under the hood. The car comes equipped with a nicely done 440 V8, air conditioning, SSBC disk brakes and fully customized red interior that will make people stop and stare.
This 1969 Charger Coca Cola Edition is a one of a kind…and it is a really cool car.
