Demon Will Have 900Hp? An SRT Performance Page From The Durango SRT Hints At 900Hp – But For What?

- in Cars

One of the biggest unanswered questions about Mopar’s latest upcoming demonic car, the Dodge Challenger SRT Demon, is just how many angry devil horses will be snorting fire under that hood.

Jalopnik caught an interesting SRT Performance Page graphic buried in the press materials for the 2018 Durango SRT. Looking closely, you can see horsepower and torque peak over 800, with horsepower getting pretty darn close to 900.

To add fuel to the fire, Ryan Nagode, chief designer, truck/commercial/performance interior studio for Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, recently posted the same photo to his Instagram. In the post’s comments, Nagode insists the image is for “rendering purposes only.” That seems straightforward enough, but he added a winky-face emoji to his comment.

Nagode said the image “does not show specific performance numbers [sic] more for the ‘show’ of it.” It just seems odd to have the graph go to 1,000 on a 475-hp SUV. That is a lot of wasted space. Yes, the graphics are revamped, but wouldn’t it make sense to scale them to what the Durango will have?

Maybe we are taking these Demon Easter eggs to a new level of paranoia.

So, is this real? Who knows? Is it possible? Sure, why not? Would 900 HP be unholy? Of course. That’s the whole point.

On the other hand, that is 100% not what power and torque look like plotted together on the same graph. Quick way to figure this out is that power doesn’t drop off when torque does. You need torque before you have power.

However, that doesn’t mean someone from marketing wasn’t told to create a graph and plant an easter egg to reveal the power numbers.
Remember the license plate on the third Demon video? #2576@35! That is a math equation which translates to 2576 X .35 = 901.6 hp. I believe the new Demon will have 901 hp.
