Racing a Corvette is never the safest way to travel. The hit television show Top Gear is known for its dramatic antics in pitting man against machine, but usually the crashes and smashes are controlled — or at least predicted.
One episode of the show’s South Korean version took a turn for the worse, though.
Filming for a stunt for “Top Gear Korea” nearly ended in tragedy as footage released by the BBC shows.
Video from the stunt was posted to the show’s YouTube channel, depicting presenter Kim Jin Pyo racing a Corvette ZR1 against an AH-1 Cobra helicopter.

In the footage, the Corvette beats the ex-military AH-1 Cobra across the finish line. The planners almost certainly did not expect the filming of the segment to go quite as wrong as it actually did. Everything seems to be going just fine during the race until the helicopter banks hard to the right before spiraling into the ground after both machines cross the finish line.
Thankfully, no one was seriously injured in the crash, but the footage, in the video below, is pretty damn chilling to watch, nevertheless.
