Hellcat WideBody Challenger or Challenger SRT Demon?

- in Cars

Now this new Hellcat looks great, but what sets it apart from the original Hellcat? First off, the new Hellcat comes with fender flares. These new fender flares come straight from the Dodge Demon. Not only it is the great look but it also adds three and a half inches to the width of the car and with a wider car comes wider tires. Another nice touch are the new wheels. Dodge calls them Devils rim wheels. It’s a new wheel designed to support those wide tires and they look great on this car.

The previous Hellcat didn’t have room for wider tires and because of this it didn’t have the best of grip on the road. After all we’re talking about 707 horsepower – you need all the grip you can get. The new Hellcat comes with Pirelli 305/35R20 P-Zero performance tires. So how much of a difference did these wider tires make?

Well, according to Dodge they tested the new Hellcat on their evaluation course and what they discovered with that wider tire shaved off two seconds per lap and at the drag strip it was three tenths of a second faster. This is a big deal because it means the Hellcat can now achieve a 10 second quarter-mile time.

Another new feature on the wide body Hellcat is electric power steering. The new steering system helps to reduce steering effort and it also enhances the acceleration and handling performance.

Top speed for the Widebody is 195 mph, compared to 199 mph for the standard version. Dodge did not say specifically, but that may have to do with the Widebody’s extra width, which is not good for aerodynamics.

What’s our thought? The Hellcat Wide Body is the better choice for muscle car fans who actually want to drive their cars and to be noticed on the road.
