Simply Amazing, Heavily Modified Ford Hotrod

- in Cars

Chuck Fisher from Wyoming, Michigan, is a damn fine custom car builder. Some folks might look at a radical yet perfectly executed build like this and say, “What is it?” Jerry Johnson knew that. He’s had a lot of cars in his life but not one like this. That’s why he bought it.

49 Ford or What?

Note the extensive modifications. Extensive is an understatement; it took nine years to finish. If you haven’t figured it out yet, you’re looking at a 1949 Ford Business Coupe with over fifty body mods … fifty. The original automobile was converted to a 3-window with 3-1/2″ chop and the quarter glass removed.

Suicide doors have been extended 11″ and fabbed out of two sets of doors each. Two hundred and ten 2 1/2″ hand pressed louvers reside in the shaved/extended/peaked hood. The car is shaved throughout, has rounded corners, door poppers, and extended front and quarter panels. The entire rear section was pinched by 3″. Custom rolled pans hang front and rear and a skull bolt in the rear pops the trunk. Nice frenched coves reside both in the rear quarter panels and the front fenders. In the setting sun, a little shadow falls into those coves and creates the illusion of fade away paint.

Add a dashboard fabbed from a combination of parts from both a 1964 Merc (bottom) and 1959 Impala (top) together with Stewart Warner gauges and a vacuum motor monitor gauge. Headlights are canted and frenched 1958 Lincoln units. Taillights are a duo of frenched 1957 Plymouth turned upside down (bottom) and 1962 Chevy setups (top). Park lamps are 1949 Ford. f you removed the doors, deck lid and hood, the car would be a complete one-piece body with no seams. Magnificent.
